Well, my mom and I finally made it last night! It was a 2-day trek, but we are here and it is beautiful. One of the perks of Florida is that it is beautiful, and the weather is so wonderful. Where we are staying is right on the beach- wow, it is amazing. And I cannot tell you how thankful we are to one of my mom’s friends from college, Cheryl, for opening up her home to us.
Once again, blessed beyond measure for people who open their hearts and homes to help make our lives a little easier during this transition.
I’ve heard that back home we have been having ice and snow, and here, it is in the 70’s:) We left at the perfect time! Please stay safe, everyone!
I’m so thankful for my mom. I do not like driving, and I will do it if I have to, but she drove the whole way. What a blessing!
We’ve had a great time these past couple of days and yesterday, we actually went and checked out the hospital that our baby will be born in. That was really neat to see and envision where this miracle will take place.
And we have an update- Praise God! Our birth mom was able to make her doctor’s appointment yesterday, and the doctor said that the baby should be here in 2 weeks or less! That is so incredibly soon! But I am thankful and praying she won’t be coming too soon. Each day in her birth momma’s belly is critical to her health, and I really, really want Josh to be here when she is born. So, please pray she comes in God’s perfect timing for health and when Josh is here.
I will update again in a couple of days. I am taking my maternity leave and should have much more time here by myself to write more after my mom leaves, as we are checking out the town and having fun while she’s here.
Yes, it is exciting that things are getting so close, but my mind is never off our birth mom. She is really having a hard time with all of this, as can be expected. I can’t imagine a mother not having a hard time with placing their baby with another family, regardless of how well you know your child will be taken care of.
Will you please cover her in prayer? Specifically for comfort, a clear mind, to feel and know the love of God, wisdom, direction, peace. We love her and want this process to be as peaceful as it can be, even though that seems impossible for her.
We depend on your prayers. Please pray for Josh and I to continue to guard our hearts, but continue to walk in faith. Our attorney emailed me yesterday and said, “Expect the worst, and pray for the best.” Of course, it is hard for me to expect the worst, because I want to expect and believe—that balance of preparing yourself for the worst, but believing for the best—it just isn’t possible!
So please lift us up, as you lift up our precious birth mom and baby as well.
Until then, my mom and I will be having fun for the next few days while she is here.
Xoxo,
Aly
