Dear Genevieve,
You are THREE!
My goodness, it is hard for me to even begin to comprehend.
When I look at you, I literally feel like my heart could burst open.
It really is true what they say: YOU, my love, are my pride and joy.
This last year has been amazing and challenging.
We have had to discipline you like we didn’t have to last year.
Can you please just never make any other mistakes so I don’t have to get on to you?!? Pretty please!!!
Man, I really hate it, but I love you too much not to teach you right from wrong.
You have grown so much this year.
I have seen you grow in stature, but to see you grow from a toddler to a little girl in your spirit has been incredible.
You are kind.
You are loving.
You are patient.
You are strong.
You an incredible big sister.
You are a caretaker.
You are so silly.
You love to spend quality time with me and your daddy (and anyone who spends good one-on-one time with you).
You love to dance and sing songs.
You love watching how things work.
You love to just watch people.
You love to mother anything and anyone, and you can be bossy to your friends;).
You are empathetic toward others.
You hate to see me or your daddy sad or see anyone do anything to us, even if they are just kidding!
You seem shy to people who don’t know you.
To people who do know you, it is hard to even think of you as shy!
You love to be a “teacher” or a “mommy”.
You love to dress up and want to be a princess.
Spoiler alert: You are already a princess, a child of the King.
These are just some of the qualities I see in you now, Genevieve.
I pray more than anything else that you are growing into the person that God created you to be.
Not the person I want you to be, or the person you want to be, but the person you were made to be.
Genevieve, you are my angel. My gift from God.
You are a deep, sweet soul, and I cherish being able to witness almost every moment of your life.
You carry an extra responsibility your little sisters don’t.
You are their example.
They watch everything you do, and want to be JUST like you.
Especially Vera right now. She literally wants to be just like you!
I pray and believe I can always tell them to follow you.
I pray and believe I can tell them that because you are following God with every part of your life.
I pray that even now, angel girl.
I love you more than you can fathom.
I will keep telling you that until I no longer have breath.
We started doing something this year.
We speak words of life over you and you repeat it back after we say our prayers at night.
May these not just be words, but truths realized in your precious life.
Repeat after me:
I am kind.
I am smart.
I am beautiful.
I am a child of God.
That’s it. Short and simple, but they are who you are.
I love every single part of being your mom.
I am so unworthy to be the mom of such an incredible human being, but because of you, I wake up knowing how incredibly blessed I am, and you are my reminder of our God who still does miracles.
Happy 3rd birthday, Genevieve Rose, and I believe this next year will be the best yet.
Love you forever,
Mommy
