BOOKS!
I’m quickly learning that if I will keep up blogging, I HAVE to make time, or else, I can get a bit distracted by the prettiest little human being in the world.
I am committed to continuing to write. I am just figuring out my routine and making time to do this, so thank you for understanding!
We are getting ready to ship my books! It really is so exciting and surreal. And this story ends with our birth mother choosing us. It doesn’t even cover the 5 day journey of Genevieve becoming ours…I am guessing another book is in the making…:)
I am also in the middle of writing “Aly’s Fight”, which is an in-depth book of my cancer journey.
Josh and I have had multiple conversations where we come to the end of it and wonder why God is continuing to use us. I really don’t know the answer to that. And frankly, I want life to be boring for a little while.
Please, God! Seriously!
But, wow, do we have a story to tell.
And we want to tell our story to all who will listen. It truly is life-changing, and God’s power is made so real.
It still baffles me that God has used Josh and I so much to show Himself as He has.
So, these next few weeks will be spent packing boxes full of books and you should be getting yours shortly! Ahh!!! Can’t wait!
Will I ever dry my hair again?
People keep asking how mommy life is. And the answer is awesome.
But, it has had many funny moments, too.
I keep planning on drying my hair. I really want to straighten it and look nice when I leave the house; however, the times I choose to do this, G is needing me, I have her in the baby wrap, or I am trying to not wake her up…
Needless to say, the hair has yet to be dried over the last four weeks–so if you have seen me lately, there is the explanation of the nappiness:)
Every nappy hair day, every spit up on my shirt, other bodily fluids that get on me (which I’ll choose not to mention:))—all of these things I prayed for.
I am lucky enough to have had less bodily fluids on me than Josh. I can’t wait for him to write on here and tell you about the things that have happened to him so far as a dad.
Oh.my.goodness… you will DIE!
But I don’t mind these bits of motherhood.
I don’t get bent out of shape about them, because to me, their precious.
Genevieve broke my necklace the other day, and I just laughed.
She had a blow out and got poop all over me, and I smiled.
She has a knack for pulling out her mommy’s hair. And I can even be brought to tears over that because I actually have hair to pull.
So, you see, yes there are frustrations that come with a little one, but I am relishing in every bit of it.
Thankful to have a husband who finds me attractive when I’m still in my robe at 5 pm and covered in who knows what.
We prayed for every bit of this. And I don’t want to miss a thing.
Newborn photos
If you ordered a book, you got a special sneak peek at some of our newborn photos! We want to share a few with you all who didn’t get a book, as well.
If you read any article about taking newborn photos, the optimum time to have them taken is 1-2 weeks after the baby is born.
Well, we didn’t bring Genevieve home until she was over 2 weeks old, and I was nervous about how she would do. Thankfully, our photographer was amazing and got some great shots.
I really wanted a simple shoot of really natural photos and Angela, from Unveiled Radiance, nailed it, as usual.
This is the same photographer that took our “We aren’t starting a family” photos back in September.
When we thought Genevieve wouldn’t be ours, I got encouraging text after text and prayers from Angela praying for us and G. To say she is a blessing, is a complete understatement.
We won a photo session from her “by chance” at an auction–and we quickly learned it wasn’t by chance. We are now sweet, sweet friends.
She came to our house, which our friends had moved us in just 2 days before and she worked with what we had, around all of our boxes and the craziness. She is amazing and her love and laughter is contagious.
Genevieve LOVED her, and we had a great time capturing her, even if she wasn’t “brand new.”
I will post a couple of our newborn photos below, but I encourage you to check out Angela’s blog to see more.
